Seven packets of meth allegedly found in package mailed to Bangli prison

A package of meth from an unidentified sender reportedly made its way to the state prison in Bangli, Rutan.

Seven packets of drugs were shipped via a commercial freight carrier, according to Denpost

An investigation so far lead Bangli Police’s narcotics officers to declare two Rutan prisoners as suspects over the shipment, identified by Denpost as Amal Vinas and Abdullah Yahya.

Apparently the drug package nicely wrapped in a cardboard box arrived at Rutan on August 19—it was first thought to have been addressed to Abudullah Yahya, but then it turned out to actually be addressed to his cellmate Amal Vinas, reports Denpost.

The contents of the package were reportedly cigarettes, coffee powder, and dried tobacco. When inspecting the package, it was in the packs of cigarettes that officers found seven packages of meth with a net weight of 4.87 grams—which were of course not passed on to the prisoner and instead rerouted to Bangli police station for further investigation, Bangli police chief Danang Beny Kusprihandono told Denpost.

When questioned by police, Vinas reportedly admitted to ordering the meth from someone he called Michael from Jakarta and that he had spent Rp 5 million on the order.

Vinas claimed he was planning on consuming the sabu-sabu by himself, but his prison roommate Yahya was still apparently declared a suspect by police for the drug package.
