The victim, identified as 37-year-old KAA, has been missing since last week, after she lost control of her vehicle and drove it over a nearby cliff in Gianyar regency. KAA was with her child and mother, who were seated behind her. While the elderly woman, identified as 55-year-old NKR, was killed in the accident, her nine-year-old boy survived and is now back home with his family.
According to reports, the accident took place far from residential areas and that the family was traveling in the middle of the rain.
“We have tried our best with our colleagues from the Indonesian military, National Police and the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), and we have conducted the search for seven days but we have not found any signs [of the victim],” Gede Darmada, Head of Bali Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), said.
According to Gede, strong river currents and steep cliffs in the area made the search more challenging. In addition, should there be any clues or findings in the near future, Basarnas said they are ready to assist.
