Nearly a dozen sea turtles were found by a local resident from Singaraja on Thursday, reports Tribun Bali.
The turtles were reportedly found in Pura Segara, Datah Village, Abang District.
When diving in Bulakan waters, I Ketut Mertawa Yasa, 29, says he discovered a group of turtles in the high sea, with a depth of about 15 meters. The turtles had bound feet, Yasa told Tribun.
Before reporting the incident to local police, he tried to pull the turtles to the mainland and ended up contacting police around 1pm.
Karangasem police reportedly confirmed that as many as 11 turtles, which are protected animals, were found dead and tied up there. Police brought the turtles with them to their office for further investigation.
