A clip has emerged showing a Honda Scoopy motorbike crashing into a store in the Kuta region of Badung. The CCTV footage captures the moment when the store’s glass shattered upon impact, attracting the attention of onlookers.

Kuta Police Chief Yogie Pramagita told reporters that the motorbike driver involved in the incident is an 18-year-old Australian citizen identified as AGB.

“It was an unfortunate accident caused by [the driver] losing control [of the vehicle],” he said yesterday.

The incident took place yesterday at around 11:30pm at the Benesari intersection. According to the police’s chronology of events, AGB was driving the motorbike, with her two friends sitting behind her, as they were heading from Benesari Road towards Kuta Beach Road.

At the intersection, AGB intended to turn right towards Bemo Corner. Unfortunately, she reportedly failed to make a complete turn, before revving the vehicle and crashing it into the glass front window of Bako Dewata, a tobacco shop owned by Ni Kadek Sudianti.

The impact shattered the glass and caused an estimated IDR5.8 million (US$390) in damages to the store.

“The Scoopy motorbike rider sustained minor injuries to the chin and suffered some scrapes on the leg. The incident was resolved amicably, with the motorbike rider compensating for the damage caused to the store,” Yogie said.
