Schapelle Corby’s sis denies rumors flying around that the con is pregnant

The infamous Schapelle Corby seems to have unwillingly made her way back into international gossip and tabloid headlines again.

“Reports” have insisted everything from under the sun that the convicted Australian drug smuggler is pregnant, or is trying to be pregnant, and her “boyfriend” who she has repeatedly said is an ex that she’s “just friends with” is poised to propose

An article ran by the Daily Mail quoted a Sydney tourist as saying that 38-year-old Corby told friends over drinks that “she is off the pill and trying for a baby.”

The Daily Mail also cited a Woman’s Day tabloid post as saying as Corby’s alleged Indonesian boyfriend who she met behind bars at Kerobokan, Ben Panangian, is ready to pop the question.

But Corby’s sister Mercedes, at least denies the baby rumors and says the media should just leave her sister alone.

“There have been so many rumors over the years that she is pregnant. They are not true. She is not pregnant,” Mercedes told News Corp this week.

“I wish they (the people suggesting it) would just shut up.”

UPDATE No, Corby’s not pregnant but she’s ‘sexier,’ says parole officer

And according to News Corp Australia’s report, it’s understood that Corby is not in a relationship and just remains close friends with ex-bf Panangian—who even told a court that Schapelle “is not that kind of friend” back in November when he got in trouble for marijuana possession.

Corby’s name made international headlines back in 2004 when she was controversially accused of smuggling drugs in Bali in her boogie board bag. Corby was eventually found guilty and sentenced to 20 years behind bars, but was released from Bali’s LP Kerobokan in February 2014 on parole until August 2017—with the conditions that she can’t leave Bali and remains under the guidance of parole officers.

Editor’s note: An earlier version of this article erroneously referred to Corby as an ex-con. While Corby has been released from Kerobokan Prison, she is still serving time whilst on parole.
