After a long nautical journey around various countries, a “Hokulea,” a traditional canoe from Hawaii, has made its way to Sanur.
Sailing since May 30, 2014, Hawaiian navigator Nainoa Thompson has been traveling with 13 crew members, according to Merdeka.
“Our goal was to anchor in Indonesia, in Bali, and now we feel so moved and happy to see Bali, which for us is a sister island to Hawaii,” Thompson told Merdeka on Saturday at Sanur Beach.
Apparently Thompson and crew don’t plan on returning to Hawaii until June 2017, so they’ve still got quite some time at sea.
