The Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) of Badung Regency has taken into custody a Russian national, identified by his initials AS, 29, following an incident in which he allegedly pilfered food from patrons at a restaurant situated in the southern Kuta area.

Badung Satpol PP’s operations officer Deni Astika was quoted by Detik Bali as saying that the incident occurred yesterday at a restaurant near Circle K on Jalan Raya Uluwatu.

“The foreign national took drinks and food belonging to other guests,” he said earlier today.

Local reports say that AS put up resistance as officers attempted to detain him yesterday.

Following the arrest, immigration officials proceeded to conduct a thorough examination and interrogation of AS. Deni conveyed that the accused displayed cooperation throughout the process.

However, Deni disclosed that indications of a mental disorder have emerged from the investigation, raising concerns about the mental well-being of the Russian national.

“The Immigration officers coordinated with me and it was found out that the foreign national is experiencing a mental disorder. Currently, the foreign national is being treated at Sanglah Hospital [now RSUP Prof Ngoerah Denpasar],” he said.
