A panel of judges in Denpasar District Court have sentenced a Russian man to 1.5 years jail for forcefully holding up a moneychanger in Ungasan, Bali.
Russian man Kriukov Pavel, 36, took Rp 28.7 million from the safe of a moneychanger on July 28, 2016 after roughing up the employee on duty.
“The defendant has been proven to have unlawfully taken possessions of others by committing violence to facilitate the theft,” said Chief Judge Esthar Oktavi, while reading the verdict on Monday, as quoted by Antara Bali.
Prosecutors had demanded the Russian get two years time, but apparently judges went a little lighter on him because he showed remorse for his actions, didn’t have priors, and was well-behaved in trial.
