Ungasan’s usually a pretty calm area, but things got shaken up on Thursday morning in the Bukit village when a Russian man reportedly robbed a money changer.
The alleged robber has been identified as 35-year-old Russian man Kriukov Pavel.
Kuta Police Chief I Wayan Latra said that the perp suddenly entered the money changer around 11 am and attacked the employee. Witnesses said the perp had a helmet on at the time, with his face covered.
“So the victim fell and then the perp took the money that was in the safe. After that, the perp escaped,” Latra explained to Tribun Bali.
However, he apparently didn’t escape for too long. Soon after the perp ran out, witnesses yelled out and an Indonesian military personnel, who turned out to be nearby, caught Pavel.
“Finally, the perpetrator was arrested and brought to the police station. This is still in the process of investigation,” Latra said.
As much as Rp 28.7 million was confiscated from Pavel after he was arrested. The Russian was in South Kuta Police custody, as of last Friday.
