A Russian couple identified as AP, 26, and IB, 30, were deported by the Denpasar Immigration Bureau last weekend after both were found to have forged documents when applying for visa extension in Bali.

“They were proven to have falsified data when applying for an extension of stay permit at the Denpasar Immigration Office,” Denpasar Immigration Office Head Tedy Riyandi said in a statement yesterday.

According to local reports, the couple’s visa expired on Feb. 24 and the two were seeking to stay longer on the island. They initially applied online before visiting the bureau two days ahead of their visas’ expiration date. However, the officers found discrepancies while verifying their documents and, after putting them into custody, found the couple guilty of forgery.

Officials did not disclose what documents the couple forged.

Both AP and IB left Bali last Saturday with Singapore Airlines and were expected to arrive in Moscow after transiting in Singapore.
