Indian motorcycle brand, Royal Enfield opened up a dealership in Bali last weekend, its second business in Indonesia.

“In 2016, we opened a (gear shop) in South Jakarta. This year, we are announcing that we’ve officially opened a dealership in Bali,” Royal Enfield international business head, Arun Gopal, said on Sunday.

The space isn’t just a dealership selling products, but also is a “lifestyle concept” says Ade Sulistioputra, PT Distributor Motor Indonesia managing director, speaking as an agent for Royal Enfield.

“The concept is designed like a living room combined with a garage. We want our riders to feel comfortable visiting our dealer, not only selling products, but also a lifestyle, so they can hangout there,” Sulistioputra said, as quoted by VIVA.

The Bali dealership, located on Sunset Road, is launching a rental program, marketed at tourists, hoping to stir up visitors’ dreams of exploring Indonesia by big, classic bike.

The rental program would allow for motorcycle renters to “cross and explore the roads in Bali and surround areas such as Lombok and Nusa Penida,” Sulistioputra said on Saturday at the dealer’s official opening.

As far as pricing goes, the amount you pay depends on your rental period—eight hours vs. 24 hours—and the engine capacity of the bike you want to take out, according to rates published by Naik Motor. The Classic 350cc model runs Rp350k (USD26) for eight hours and Rp 650k (USD48) for 24 hours.

Whereas the Classic 500cc and Bullet 500cc would go for Rp 500k (USD37) for eight hours and Rp 800k (USD60) for 24 hours.

If you want to do weekly rental, then the Classic 350 would set you back Rp 3.85 million (USD288), while the Classic and Bullet 500 would run Rp 5.25 million (USD394).

Although Royal Enfield is more regarded as a classic, old-time motorcycle—the company is the oldest motorcycle brand in the world still in production—the brand has potential for popularity in Indonesia, where there are motorcycle enthusiasts aplenty, according to Gopal.

Royal Enfield chose Bali in particular to open up their dealership because the island has become an international ‘hangout’ destination for motorcycle lovers, says Gopal.

He’s right on, as Bali’s been a gathering hub for Vespa, Kawasaki, and of course, hog-loving Harley riders.

Back in 2015, Harley-Davidson chose Bali as the site to host its inaugural Asia Pacific Convention.

If American motors are more your style, Harleys are also available for test runs and rent in Bali through Sarana Harley-Davidson.
