A traffic accident on Jl. Denpasar-Gilimanuk, Jembrana on Thursday claimed the life of a retired civil servant.
Allegedly due to not taking enough precaution while overtaking a truck in front of him whilst driving his motorbike, I Nengah Widana, 63, fell under the truck and died instantly as a result of his head being crushed by the truck tires, according to Tribun Bali.
The fateful accident reportedly occurred on Thursday at 2:30 pm, when the victim had been traveling west, simultaneously with a truck in front of him.
When Widana tried to pass the truck, he was allegedly shocked to find an unidentified vehicle coming at him head on, so he allegedly overcorrected and fatally fell right under the truck.
Reports did not specify whether or not Widana had been wearing a helmet, but it sounds like it would not have made a difference since his skull was reportedly crushed on impact from getting run over by the truck.
I Gede Sumadra Kerthiawan of Jembrana Police confirmed the accident to Tribun.
“Based on the results of the examination, the victim suffered serious injuries to the head with the head crushed by the truck tires. That’s because the victim was less cautious when passing the vehicle in front of him,” Kerthiawan told Tribun on Thursday.
