Get taken back to the days before mass tourism full on hit Bali and the time when the island wasn’t yet really on the map as an international destination.
A photo album shared to Facebook by Sydney resident Clifford White shows images of a place you could hardly recognize as Bali—especially in the more developed south—today.
Pictures are from various surfing trips when Kuta was just a fishing village, Nusa Dua had a dirt road and no buildings, and Uluwatu could only be accessed by foot, writes White in the album’s description.
The album has been shared quite a bit and has gotten over two thousand likes since White posted it about two months ago and it’s not hard to see why. Many netizens have commented, yearning for those “simpler” times.
