Prosecution: Defense for Noor Ellis ‘manipulated the facts’ and ‘disingenuous’

While the Indonesian woman charged with having her husband of 25 year killed begged the court to go easy on her with a light sentence, prosecutors are saying her legal defense has not been totally upfront.

Prosecutor Ida Ayu Sulasmi said on Tuesday that Noor Ellis’ defense attorneys “manipulated the facts,” disregarding witness testimony given in the trial, reports News Corp Australia

“It is very clear that the defendant has promised money, 150 Million Rupiah, to kill her husband, Robert Kevin Ellis. And at the time of the murder the defendant was also actively involved in picking up the killers, given them signs when the victim was coming to the villa, participated in dumping the body, also cleaned the victim’s body and the crime scene and disposed of the tools used to kill the victim,” Sulasmi submitted to the court, as quoted by News Corp.

Robert Ellis, a wealthy Australian businessman, was found dead in a Bali rice field in October 2014, brutally murdered, wrapped in plastic, with his throat slit.

His wife, five alleged hit men, and two maids accused of assisting are standing trial in Bali for his murder.

Moreover, Sulasmi reportedly said Noor Ellis’ attorneys made fraudulent statements and were disingenuous—at the expense of justice and legal certainty.

Sulasmi went on to say that defense arguments were inconsistent and disregarded evidence in the form of witness testimonies during the trial.

Also concerned that justice won’t be served and Noor Ellis won’t get a fair sentence are the two sons she had with her slain husband, Peter and John Ellis.

Of the two sons, Peter Ellis has been more vocal, insisting that he has completely cut Noor Ellis out of his life and she is no longer his mother.

“If she thinks that killing our father, ruining and changing our lives, we can’t forgive anyone for doing that,” Peter Ellis said, as quoted by News Corp.

Peter Ellis has also taken to Twitter to express his frustrations over his mother’s trial, basically asking “WTF?” when prosecutors recommended just 15 years in prison for his mother’s sentence.

Reports say we can expect the court to hand down its verdict and sentence next week on Wednesday.
