Prison Break: 3 convicts escape from Bali prison, 2 still at large

Watch out, especially if you’re in Bangli or Denpasar.

Three prisoners convicted in drug cases escaped yesterday afternoon around 3 pm from a prison in Bangli. One was caught, but the other two remain at large, reports Tribun Bali

The identities of the three prisoners are reported by Tribun Bali as Rudi R Mowo, 42, Tri Laksono, 32, and Heri Susanto, 27. Mowo is the one who has already been secured by prison authorities, since he was hospitalized with a broken leg.

Before his capture, Mowo had reportedly asked people in Bangli to take him to the hospital, saying he had injured in his leg in a motorbike accident. However, inconsistencies in his story seemed a bit dodgy and when his story didn’t check out, he was eventually identified as an escaped convict. He has been back in Bangli Prison since 9 pm last night, reports say.

The other two convicts who made it further out than Mowo allegedly stole a motorcycle last night in Gianyar, reports say.

Reports allege that the three had gotten out through the vent in their cell that had collapsed. Time for renovations, anyone? Probably something worth putting money into.

Nyoman Putra Suryatmaja, Head of Corrections Division, Regional Office and Bali Ministry of Justice and Human Rights, says the escaped inmates may have headed for Denpasar, back to their homes. Bali and Denpasar police are on the case and attempting to track the inmates, says Suryatmaja.
