Potato Head responds to Indonesian blogger’s allegations of racist treatment at Bali beach club

A fuming post by an Indonesian blogger complaining of racist treatment at Bali’s hip Potato Head Beach Club has taken social media by storm with hundreds of shares.

Not sweeping anything under the rug, the Potato Head Family has responded, apologizing for the incident and insisting that they take these kinds of complaints very seriously. It’s input like this that helps them improve their employee training so they can prevent future miscommunications, they said.

Here’s the full official statement that the beach club has shared with Coconuts Bali:

We are an Indonesian company that is operated by Indonesians and we welcome and value all guests equally. We pride ourselves on always maintaining excellent customer service and treating all our patrons as if they were guests in our own home.

We have spoken directly to the guest who has written about her experience on her blog, and we deeply apologised to her and her family for the miscommunication that occurred, the unpleasant experience and for the service that did not live up to our high standard. We thank her very much for her input as it helps us to greatly improve the training of all our staff, and ultimately improve our overall service.

From the other side of things, blogger Ade Kumalasari has also updated her original post about her awkward experience at the Petitenget area hot spot, after they reached out to her. Ade says she declares the problem as resolved and thanks to everyone who has supported her.
