Port security ‘tightened’ in anticipation of terrorist threats, but searches still done manually

Despite the tightening of security at Bali’s various vulnerable entry points, including ports, inspections made by police officers at Benoa Harbor have reportedly not been made with the help from any x-ray, metal detectors, or scanning devices.

As 1,200 passengers from the ship Tilong Kabila disembarked the vessel in Benoa on Monday, police conducted checks on everyone’s luggage with nothing more but their own hands and a flashlight, according to a report by Tribun Bali

None of the passengers were caught carrying anything dangerous, meaning no one really was carrying something sketch, or they were just good at hiding everything. However, four people were detained from the Tilong Kabila for not carrying identity cards—something police in Bali have been cracking down on since Lebaran ended.
