Port officials stop man trying to smuggle 5 racing dogs into Bali from Java

Gilimanuk port officers reportedly intercepted five “racing dogs” that were being smuggled into Bali.

Officers reportedly discovered the dogs riding in a Toyota Land Cruiser during a routine port-crossing inspection. It almost seems like no one was even really trying to hide them.

“From the description of the owner, the price of the racing dogs per head reaches three million (rupiah). We are still processing the paper documentation of the dogs’ ownership,” Chief of Gilimanuk Port Police Nyoman Wirya Sucipta told Merdeka on Friday.

The five dogs were apparently three Belgian Malinois and two Doberman.

Officers found from questioning that the document-less dogs belonged to Luck Lee J. Tahuttu, 43, and were brought from Surabaya.

The car transporting the dogs along with the car’s owner were reportedly detained in Gilimanuk for further processing.
