Not a day seems to go by without police at Gilmanuk, Bali’s main crossing port to Java, finding something illegal and/or dangerous.

Gilimanuk Police uncovered a long-barreled airsoft gun with three magazines being smuggled in to Bali on Wednesday, according to local news reports.

The man carrying the gun, MA, 47, did not a have license from Perbakin (the Indonesian Shooting and Hunting Association) and had apparently been on the way to Buleleng, North Bali.

MA was taken to Gilimanuk Police headquarters for further questioning, where police found out the man had been intending to sell the gun in Buleleng.

“We have arrested the driver of the van and the evidence in the form of a soft gun weapon, with three magazines, all secured by Gilimanuk Water Police,” said Gilimanuk Police Commissioner Gede Arka, as quoted by Merdeka.

Guns are certainly not common in Bali, but it seems like crimes involving airsoft guns keep popping up as of late. Just last week, a suspected drug kingpin was arrested with air guns in possession, while in February, around Rp 800 million worth of currencies was taken from a money changer by robbers armed with an airsoft gun.
