Police save thief from getting beaten by angry mob in Kerobokan, Bali

Ironically, an alleged thief has the police to be thankful for.

When a mugging attempt failed last night on Jl. Raya Kerobokan, an angry mob targeted the perpetrator.

Fortunately for local man and alleged mugger Ketut Andi Krisnawan, 37, police quickly rescued him; otherwise, he says he would have been beaten, reports Tribun Bali

But before police ‘helped him out,’  local resident Wena Ketut allegedly aided in Krisnawan’s capture. Wena says he thought he saw someone fall down who needed help, so he tried to help, but it turned out it was actually a mugger.

Muggings have become relatively common in this area so residents have become increasingly frustrated as evidenced by the escalation that could have happened last night.

Krisnawan was reportedly brought to the North Kuta police station last night so the incident could be further investigated.
