As the Bali policeman murder case gets passed over from police to prosecutors, police have said BOTH Australian Sara Connor and British boyfriend David Taylor should be charged with murder.
This is significant because Connor, mother of two, has been steadfast in maintaining her innocence, insisting that she did not help kill officer Wayan Sudarsa. Connor has had a couple of change-ups in her story, but one of the more recent versions consists of her saying she tried to “protect” Sudarsa from Taylor’s attacks.
“We say that Sara is not guilty and we ask for her to be freed,” Connor’s attorney Erwin Siregar said.
A brief of evidence was reportedly given by police to prosecutors today in the form of two separate dossiers, one with Connor’s mugshot on the cover, the other with Taylor’s.
The cover of Connor’s dossier reads: “On Wednesday Aug 17, 2016 at around 3.45am at Legian Beach, in front of Pullman Legian Hotel … a murder has occurred to victim Wayan Sudarsa … the murder is allegedly committed by suspect Sara Connor together with David James Taylor,” as published by the News Corp Australia network.

The next seven days will apparently be critical to the case. After examining evidence briefs from police, prosecutors will either accept them and move forward or hand them back to police for further investigation. This was said by Denpasar Prosecutor’s general crime section chief, Ketut Maha Agung.
Even though police are recommending both suspects get charged with murder, ultimately it’s up to prosecutors to determine the charges over the case that was triggered when Bali policeman Wayan Sudarsa’s dead body was found dead on Kuta Beach on Aug. 17.
