A member of Bali’s Dalmas Police brigade was attacked by a group of youths in Denpasar who were allegedly part of a motorcycle gang, early on Sunday morning.
Based on information obtained by local newspaper Tribun Bali, the cop, I Gede Oka Semardiana, 19, had been out patrolling by motorcycle when he got a flat tire at 2 am on the west Teuku Umar bridge.
Still in his official police uniform, Semardiana was shocked when a swarm of youth started beating him.
But the violence was broken up when seven police officers who were also on patrol came to Semardiana’s aid.
The officers were able to secure only one of the perps, identified as FK, 24, while the rest managed to flee the scene and get away.
Semardiana’s injuries don’t appear too serious—the big one was a cut on his head.
The chief of Denpasar Police’s criminal investigation unit, Reinhard Nainggolan, confirmed the incident to local media, as well as the detainment of one of the offenders.
