Police officer allegedly drowns in Kuta, body still not recovered

Lifeguards are still keeping an eye out for the body of Badung narcotics officer Made Susila, who allegedly drowned off of Kuta Beach three days ago.

Balawista Badung has been scouring the water looking for Susilo in the area he was last seen, but they have had no luck.

Lifeguards, however, say there were only witnesses who saw Susilo around the beach—no one saw him swimming in the ocean, so they can’t be sure he actually drowned.

If he did drown, lifeguards say his body should have been found by now, but strong winds and currents may have swept him away further than usual for drowning victims.

“If it is true that he (Made Susilo) drowned, he will appear on the second or third day since he was missing,” if it’s more than two days, it’s time to look beyond Kuta, Balawista lifeguard Nyoman Arta explained to Tribun Bali on Sunday.
