Police in Buleleng Regency have launched a probe into possible sexual abuse after a sex tape featuring a couple of Balinese teenagers was leaked online.

The self-shot sex tape, police said, depicts a young male recording his sexual intercourse with someone who appears to be his girlfriend. The girl was reluctant to be filmed as she repeatedly tried to cover her face with her hands, only for them to be pulled away at the boy’s insistence.

The girl and her family went to file a report with the police after the content leaked online.

“We’re still looking into it. [The boy] is believed to be her boyfriend or ex-boyfriend. What’s clear is that [the boy] has a close relationship with the victim,” Buleleng Police spokesman Gede Sumarjaya said yesterday.

The case is being handled by Buleleng Police’s Women and Child Protection Department.

Police have not ruled out the possibility that the boy himself released the sex tape.

At any rate, those deemed responsible for the creation and dissemination of the sex tape may face charges related to Indonesia’s strict anti-pornography law and child sexual abuse.
