Police Chief says Bali Police never covered anything up related to narcotics director’s alleged corruption

Bali Police are distancing themselves from the alleged dirty police narcotics director that has been arrested on suspicion of extortive practices.

Bali Police Chief Insp. Gen. Sugeng Priyanto is insisting that Bali Police never helped cover up any alleged abuse of power by Bali Police Narcotics Director Frank Haryanto Parapat.

“I want to affirm that Bali Police did not cover up anything,” Priyanto said on Wednesday, as quoted by Antara Bali

Haryanto was arrested by Bali Police internal investigators and brought into custody for questioning over extortion and embezzlement allegations.

It’s alleged that Haryanto demanded a Dutch drug suspect buy him a Toyota Fortuner, in order to help his case. Haryanto is also accused of embezzling funds from budget cuts.

The investigation remains ongoing and Haryanto will possibly be brought to Jakarta for further examination.
