Police ban sale of fireworks in Badung, Bali

Well good thing you can just walk in to basically almost any supermarket and buy them from the front display.

Announcing a super (probably unrealistic) ambitious move, Badung Police have reportedly banned the sale of firecrackers and fireworks that are bigger than two inches in the richest district of Bali.

“It was done for the comfort and safety of the community as well as visitors or tourists who were vacationing on the island,” said Head of Public Relations Sub-Badung Police, Assistant Commissioner I Made Dina in Mangupura on Thursday, as quoted by Tribun Bali.

Badung Police will be performing raids regularly in a number of stalls and shopping centers, reports Tribun.

The ban is being publicized through banners and flyers in a number of strategic points in tourist areas.

However, despite the ban, dozens of firecrackers have reportedly scattered across the night’s sky since Christmas Mass and those neighborhood kids in every kampung also seem to have an endless supply of firecrackers going off in the street every day since even before Galungan.
