Police arrest 4 Gianyar people for fighting crickets and gambling

Four people were hauled to Gianyar Police headquarters on Thursday for their inappropriate cricket gambling activities. Crickets as in the insects, not the sport.

“Four people were arrested for gambling with crickets in an empty lot,” Gianyar Police Head of the Fast Response Unit Insp. Gusti Ngurah Winangun told Tribun Bali

The four, identified by initials MS, 34, WS, 45, NY, 47, and DP, 46, were raided in Desa Batuan Kaler, Sukawati.

They were apparently reported by members of the public who felt uncomfortable with their activities.

Police seized evidence in the form of betting money, seven tubes used to house the crickets, and some object that would be used to trigger the crickets.

So cockfighting isn’t the only type of animal fighting apparently found in Bali.
