Bali regional secretary Dewa Made Indra is urging people not to jump to conclusions after a 49-year-old man in Badung regency died following his AstraZeneca vaccine jab.
The man, identified as NW, died on Tuesday. According to reports, he received his first shot of the AstraZeneca vaccine just a day before, before he became feverish and fainted. NW later died on his way to the community health clinic (Puskesmas).
Health authorities have yet to establish a link between NW’s death and the AstraZeneca vaccine.
“So please let us not hastily jump to conclusions, don’t make a connection between vaccination and deaths. This requires examination and medical trial. So before that, please don’t make your own conclusions,” Indra said.
Indra warned that speculations may impede the success of the ongoing vaccination program, and urged the public to wait for the result of the investigation.
The National Commission on Post-Immunization Accidents (Komnas KIPI) declared late last month that there have been no deaths related to any COVID-19 vaccination in Indonesia.
