A couple from Bangli, Bali is thrilled that their baby was born yesterday during the Balinese holiday Nyepi, at the time of the solar eclipse.
People are not allowed outside Nyepi, the “Day of Silence,” but there’s always room for certain exceptions. Like for instance, having to rush to the hospital to deliver a baby, which exactly what Sang Nyoman Juli Artana and his wife Kadek Budi Asih had to do.
“I set off from Bangli Public Hospital around 7 am, the streets were deserted fortunately. I arrived at Sanglah Hospital around 7:30 and I’m proud that my son’s birth was right during the solar eclipse,” Artana told Tribun Bali on Wednesday.
Because of the special timing of the baby’s entrance into the world, Artana and his wife are thinking of naming the baby after the circumstances of its birth.
“If not named Sang Kadek Gerhana (eclipse), it would be Sang Kadek Nyepi,” Artana explained.
