This week, overweight police officers in Bali’s Klungkung regency are taking part in a weight management program as part of an effort to help them be more “ready and alert” to serve and protect citizens.

“The purpose is to help them get a lean and healthy body, so that they will be ready and alert when they serve the community. This program has a very positive impact, as overweight police officers can achieve an ideal body,” Police Superintendent I Komang Sudana, who heads Klungkung Police, told reporters earlier today.

The weight management program, which began on Tuesday, is set to run for a total of four days. The 24 police officers participating in the program will engage in warm-up exercises and running, according to a report from Detik.

Sudana said police officers in Klungkung are expected to keep themselves fit and maintain an ideal body weight.

[These are] the foundations of carrying out their duties, and it must be balanced with a good diet and adequate sleep,” Sudana added.
