Ouch: Fisherman’s long hair gets tangled in boat propeller in Bali

Having long hair can sure be a liability in some jobs.

This turned out to be true for a 35-year-old man named Aslin who was reportedly nearly killed when his hair got caught in a fishing boat propeller.

Aslin, originally from Sulawesi, was rushed to Sanglah Hospital for treatment, as he suffered severe injuries from parts of his hair and scalp being ripped off by the propeller, while he had been working on the hull, reports Merdeka

The poor man reportedly had to get 18 stitches and his head was torn in two spots.

According to Mohammad Tirta, who had been with Aslin during the incident, they were cleaning their boat in Kedonganan Beach while the propeller was moving. At that time, Aslin was repairing the hull section.

“Thank God I survived and was still conscious when my head hit the propeller,” Aslin told Merdeka from Sanglah’s Special Care Unit on Saturday.
