A man in Ende, East Nusa Tenggara, was recently arrested for the murder of his fiancée during a fit of rage. Local police said the anger was triggered by the victim’s accusations that he had sex with a cow.
Ende Police Crime Unit Chief Yance Kadiaman said that the 44-year-old suspect, identified by his initials MO, who lives in Jopu Village, Wolowaru, assaulted his betrothed, AR, 35, on two occasions.
The first assault occurred on Feb. 4, during which he attacked her with his bare hands. On the second occasion, on Feb. 7, MO reportedly hit AR with a wrench, which proved a fatal blow.
AR died due to brain damage the next day after being hospitalized at the Santo Antonius Jopu Hospital.
“The suspect was upset with the victim because she accused him of committing adultery, often asking for sex, and that he had sex with a cow on their farm,” he said on Monday.
Under Indonesian law, MO may face 15 years behind bars if proven guilty of murder.
