East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Governor Viktor Bungtilu Laiskodat’s entourage reportedly got into a fight with a drunk driver on a recent trip to Jakarta, the video of which has circulated widely online after the incident was filmed by a bystander.

The 30-second clip, which was filmed near Jakarta’s main commercial thoroughfare, first shows a glimpse of Viktor himself, dressed in a white shirt, as he walked to one of the cars in the convoy and got in. A group of men situated at the front part of the stopped convoy can be seen shoving and grabbing a man in a black top by the shirt, witnessed by others on motorbikes and cars nearby.

The incident has also been confirmed by the Setiabudi sub-precinct chief, Yogen Heroes Baruno, who said that it occurred on the evening of Dec. 4.

“That happened last week. Basically we received a report, but it wasn’t a beating but just a misunderstanding on the road, because there was a person who cut off the NTT governor’s convoy,” Yogen said today, adding that the person admitted to being drunk.

Yogen emphasized that no one filed a police report, and both parties decided to settle the misunderstanding amicably. Police also said that the person was stopped by one of Viktor’s aides after he tried to cut the convoy off.
