North Bali police struggle to identify messenger of threatening terror letter

Police are still having a having a hard time identifying the mystery man who hand-delivered a threatening letter on Monday to local Buleleng government offices.

The letter spoke of possible terror attacks in the Balinese cities of Singaraja and Denpasar and claimed to be from the same network as the Sarinah, Jakarta attackers.

Police seemed to think CCTV footage would offer more clues about the man who dropped the letter off by motorbike. He was described as about 40 years old with a thin mustache, but camera footage is proving less helpful than police had hoped for.

Buleleng Police Chief Harry Haryadi Badjuri said police had requested three security camera recordings from around the Buleleng regency office, but the quality was poor.

“We have also seen the CCTV footage, there were three feeds leading up to it,” Badjuri told Tribun Bali. “But the object (the letter’s messenger) is too far away, the image is broken if enlarged,” he explained.
