North Bali Police arrest motorbike stealing group

Buleleng Police arrested a group of men allegedly terrorizing the local community by stealing motorbikes.

“The four perpetrators successfully captured are Sitwan, 29, Muhammad Arif, 26, Raden Ahyar, 16, and Moyessar, 33,” Head of Buleleng Police Made Sukawijaya told Antara Bali in Singaraja on Thursday.

He said the thieves would boldly target motorbikes that still had the keys in the ignition, when the owner would be standing nearby.

Sukawijaya added that the arrest of the four men stemmed from reports of a stolen Scoopy motorbike on Monday. Police found that the stolen bike had been resold for a price of Rp 1.5 million (it didn’t have its full papers after all), while two other motorbikes stolen from the men were tracked to Madura by East Java Police.

Under criminal law, the four men could get charged with up to seven years in prison.
