North Bali man can eat as much as 3 kg of chili peppers in one day, uses peppers for face scrub

It’s alarming how obsessed with or rather, immune one man in North Bali is to chili peppers.

Putu Suartawan of Ularan Village, Buleleng is capable of devouring three kilograms of chili peppers without feel so much as a pinch of spice, according to Merdeka

His reputation for extreme chili tolerance has earned him the nickname of “Manusia Cabai,” or Chili Human.

He apparently can wash down 30 chili peppers in less than 30 seconds—with no additional food or drinking water to ease it into his system. Suartawan says he’s been eating chili in large quantities since he was just six years old.

But it’s not just his intense chili consumption that makes the 40-year-old remarkable. He is also known to use chili paste to wash his face.

“Many shout in horror when they see my scrubs with chili on my face and eyes. I do not feel sore or spicy, or anything,” he said to Merdeka on Sunday.

Have you ever accidentally touched your eye after eating sambal? That’s enough to make us break out into tears, not sure how he can manage a whole face scrub.
