Singaraja City Police arrested four people accused of commonly operating as bag snatchers in the tourist area of Lovina.
Three of the four are just minors. The group has been identified by Tribun Bali as Kadek Agus Pranata, 22, PA, 17, KAJ, 15, and KPA, 16.
The four are locals of Kaliasem Village, Bulelelng.
Police first caught KAJ in Lovina on Monday night, who then explained he hadn’t been working alone and tipped them off about his three other friends. What a good comrade…
KAJ disturbingly said he would target women who were riding motorbikes alone, reasoning that they often don’t resist the same way men do, Tribun Bali reports.
“Five times, I snatched (jambret). The target was women carrying bags, I was looking for money, it’s easier with females. Yeah, with it (the stolen money) I would eat with my friends,” KAJ reportedly told Singaraja Police on Tuesday.
Singaraja City Police Chief I Nyoman Suarnata said the four perps would not just jambret, but they would also often steal in the city, all the way from Banjar to Sukasada.
“They also stole chicken in Baktiseraga and stole two motorcycles,” Suarnata told Tribun.
The four young alleged thieves are being held for questioning by Singaraja Police, reports say.
They could face charges carrying max penalties of 15 years prison for theft accompanied by violence
