After a report by Tribun Bali, we finally know a little more about the fire that burnt down buildings of Kind Villa Bintang Resort in Nusa Dua on Monday. For starters, no fatalities were reported.
Tribun Bali reports that the fire started in the restaurant’s kitchen, near the pool. Of the two burnt villas, one was adjacent to the restaurant and the other was about 20 feet in front. Seven Badung firefighting units and one from BTDC Nusa Dua were deployed to extinguish the fire that ended up striking three buildings including the restaurant and two villas.
Because the villa roofs were alang-alang, or thatched, the fire quickly intensified. Apollo Watersport, the building next door also reported with an alang-alang roof, briefly caught fire from sparks carried by wind, but it was managed to quickly get put out.
