A Nigerian national who recently traveled domestically to Bali may be deported after immigration officials found that he had overstayed his Indonesian visa for two years.

Local outlets reported that EEA arrived at the Ngurah Rai International Airport yesterday after flying with Lion Air’s Flight JT-3204 from Jakarta. According to Ngurah Rai Immigration Office Head I Nyoman Gede Surya Mataram, EEA was apprehended after officers found that his PCR test was fake and deemed his stay permit “questionable.”

“After investigating, it was found that the person arrived in Indonesia via Soekarno-Hatta airport on July 23, 2019, with a B211 visa that expired after 30 days,” said Nyoman, who was referring to Indonesia’s 30-day tourist visa.

EEA was later deemed guilty of having violated Article 78 (Paragraph 3) of the Immigration Law for having possessed a stay permit that had expired for more than 60 days. He has been detained pending deportation.

“His stay permit expired on August 21, 2019. He lived in Jakarta all of this time,” said Ngurah Rai Immigration Office’s surveillance and enforcement head Yoga Aria Prakoso Wardoyo separately.

Yoga added that authorities had received a tip about EEA’s arrival in Bali on March 5, but the Nigerian national eventually made the trip from Jakarta on March 15.
