After winning the gubernatorial race last month, Bali’s governor-elect is getting ready to transition into office.
Wayan Koster and his running mate, Tjokorda Oka Artha Ardhana Sukawati were officially designated as the governor-elect and deputy governor-elect for the 2018-2023 term on Tuesday evening during a plenary session of the General Election Commission (KPU) Bali.
The designation was made in the absence of a challenging lawsuit from Koster’s race opponent, Rai Mantra.
“Today, we set Wayan Koster and Tjokorda Oka Artha Ardhana Sukawati as the governor elect and deputy governor elect,” KPU Bali Chairman I Dewa Raka Sani said from the governor’s office on Tuesday, as quoted by Delik News.
Koster, running under PDIP (the same party as the president) won the election on June 27, 2018 with 1,213,075 recorded votes, versus Mantra, who received 889,930 votes.
Koster and Ace will be officially sworn in on September 17 by the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
A transitional office for the “Kok Ace” team is being prepared by now Governor Made Mangku Pastika, whose term will end on August 29 after he held the office for 10 years (two consecutive terms).
“Regarding the transition office, it’s the initiative of Bali Governor Made Mangku Pastika,” Koster said at a press conference in Renon on Tuesday evening.
“We can immediately work to prepare our vision and mission of our program from the campaign period. Starting tomorrow, we will work here,” Kumparan quoted Koster as saying.
“We will start immediately by drafting regulations that can be completed quickly. We already have a partial concept. We will work full time with a special team, working continuously. Work fast, smart, careful, and thorough,” Koster said.
