New Badung Police Chief cycles on the job over 20km to get to know community, all while fasting

Since taking over as the Police Chief of South Bali’s Badung Regency, Superintendent Ruddy Setiawan has shown he’s not one to sit around in his office, waiting for cases to come to him.

This morning, Setiawan was seen cycling about 23 kilometers around Badung to familiarize himself amongst the regency.

Starting around 8 am, Setiawan rode his push bike from Jl. Raya Abiansemal to Jl. Buduk, and then over to Canggu, with a stop at the Petitenget Pos Polisi.

Although Setiawan was puasa (fasting) for Ramadan, he told reporters he was not keen to sit back and relax in his office.

“I want to hear directly from the people about their aspirations. Based on conversations with residents, they want to see improvements in the patrol,” Setiawan told Tribun Bali

Setiawan took over Badung’s police force from former Superintendent Tony Binsar last month, on May 10.
