Netizens shame Wake Bali Adventure after story of dolphins in tiny pool goes viral

Pictures showing dolphins kept in a disturbingly small pool at a Bali resort have prompted a flurry of negative feedback from netizens and has even led to a petition on change.org.

The change.org petition, titled “Free four wild dolphins contained in a tiny resort pool,” has already garnered over 80k signatures as of writing time on Thursday morning.

According ot the petition, four dolphins are kept in a 10 by 20 meter chlorinated swimming pool adjacent to the beach at Keramas, Bali by Wake Bali Dolphin. The resort apparently opened last July despite initial protests.

Urging Wake Bali Dolphins to release the animals into the wild, the petition’s creator Australian surfer Craig Brokensha, posted to the petition’s main page that he has contacted Indonesia’s Forestry Minister, has mobilized people to write negative reviews on TripAdvisor, and has even seen the Wake Bali Adventure website crash due to all the negative feedback.

Angry posts can also be found on the Wake Bali Adventure Facebook page, with netizens telling the resort of their disgust:

Hopefully the incredibly far-reaching support of this petition will soon see these dolphins released to the wild where they belong.
