Australia’s flag carrier Qantas today signaled that a restart of their Bali routes may not be too far away, as ongoing discussions are underway with the Indonesian government.
In a statement released today, Qantas said that the discussions are centered on “welcoming fully vaccinated Australians back to Bali with reduced or no quarantine requirements.” If those prove fruitful, Qantas said it would mean that both it and its low cost carrier subsidiary Jetstar will resume their flights from Sydney to Bali months earlier than scheduled.
Following Australia’s announcement that they are lifting international arrival caps, Qantas has announced various restart dates for some international routes for Australians, some of which are scheduled as early as Nov. 1. That does not currently include any direct flights between Australia and Bali.
Though Indonesia has reopened to fully vaccinated tourists since Oct. 14, international travelers can only come from 19 eligible countries. The list includes China, India, and France, but not Australia at the moment.
Foreign tourists are required to quarantine for five days at their own expense, among other requirements to enter Indonesia.
