The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) Bali division conducted a sweep for drugs on Tuesday, targeting local boardinghouses.

The raid at one boardinghouse on Jl. Pulau Kawe yielded three people testing positive for drugs. The three positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine work at nightclubs, according to reports.

An examination of residents at another boardinghouse, this one on Jl. Pulau Ayu, found five people positive for drugs.

Head of BNN Bali Superintendent Ketut Arta says the agency is focused on searching nightclub employees.

“Based on our analysis, those working in the nightlife scene have great potential for drug abuse,” Times Indonesia quoted Arta as saying.

BNN will impose a combination of medical and social rehabilitation on the drug positive residents, Arta said.
