A local man in his late 20s was arrested for burglary by the West Denpasar Police after his attempt to steal from a pawn shop was caught on CCTV cameras. Police say he was naked while breaking bad, to which he claimed that being free of clothing allowed him to be nimble.

The perp was identified as TG, 27. He attempted to steal from the shop, which is located on Teuku Umar Street in the capital city of Bali, in the nude the whole time.

The police confirmed CCTV cameras caught him red-handed (or, should we say, butt-naked?) doing the bad deed in the early hours of July 23 – or two Saturdays ago.

“On CCTV [camera recordings], what we saw was him fully naked – not even wearing underwear,” West Denpasar Police Chief I Made Hendra Agustina said.

Police ruled out any possibility that the suspect had mental health issues, explaining that he immediately put on clothes after committing the crime.

TG was finally apprehended on Monday, with police saying that they had to shoot him in both of his legs as he attempted to flee from arrest. Police records show that the suspect had also committed similar crimes in Gianyar, as well as North Sumatra.

Under Indonesian law, TG may face up to seven years behind bars for theft.
