The Indonesian woman locked up in Bali’s Kerobokan Prison for having her Australian husband brutally killed in Bali was reportedly transferred to another facility after she was allegedly intimidated continuously by her husband’s hitmen.
News Corp Australia released a report this afternoon saying that Noor Ellis was moved to Karangasem prison in East Bali last week.
Noor Ellis got sentenced 12 years in June for the killing of her husband Robert Ellis—which she paid AUD14,000 for. Her husband’s body was found in October in a rice paddy, wrapped in plastic with his throat slit—they had been married more than 25 years.
But according to News Corp Australia’s prison sources, two of the hitmen are bitter since they both got heavier sentences of 15 years. Oh, and Noor Ellis also got a sentence reduction of three months during the celebration of Indonesia’s independence last month.
The hitmen would apparently often go to Noor Ellis’ block in Kerobokan, demanding money from her and making their dislike for her clear, according to unidentified prison sources interviewed by News Corp.
Her lawyer, Nyoman Wisnu, confirmed that Noor Ellis requested to move from Kerobokan, but not because she was threatened, but because she needed a quieter setting and her family was overwhelmed with the crowded visiting area.
But Kerobokan Prison’s governor is giving a different explanation for Noor Ellis’ transfer. Sudjonggo says some prisoners were moved out since the facility is seriously overcrowded: there are 1060 inmates, but the maximum capacity is 332, he said.
