A man has reportedly died in Kuta after accidentally driving his motorbike into a pole early on Sunday morning.
The man’s identity has not yet been officially confirmed, but his name is believed to be Tommy Santosa and police estimate that he was about 35 years old.
Reports described the man as covered in tattoos and have said that he died instantly from a head injury that resulted from him crashing a Honda Scoopy directly into the pole.
Based on information compiled by local newspaper Tribun Bali, the accident occurred on Sunday, at around 1:30 am on Jl. Majapahit.
The man was apparently driving a female foreigner on the back of the bike. She was reportedly injured pretty badly, but not fatally.
“Her left arm was broken and her right eye and mouth were torn. The tattooed man’s body has been referred to Sanglah Hospital,” Denpasar Police Commissioner I Nyoman Nuryana told Tribun.
“When the accident happened, the tattooed man was driving with a female bule. According to the testimony of witnesses near the scene, he was driving quite fast from south to north. Arriving at the scene, the motorcycle suddenly swerved to the right and struck the pole on the roadside,” Nuryana said.
