A motorbike taxi driver was spotted doing some pushups at a crosswalk in Bali, apparently as a punishment for idling his bike on the zebra cross while waiting for the light to turn.

The driver, in his green jacket uniform, is seen lowering to the ground right on the crosswalk as traffic piles up behind him and a Bali traffic police officer looks on, in an image that’s gotten over 26,000 likes and dozens of comments.

Citizen journalism site Info Denpasar reposted the photo from Instagram user @ogick of the middle-of-the-street workout on Thursday.

“Forced to a stop at the zebra cross, the online motorbike taxi driver was asked to do pushups by the police officer,” Info Denpasar captioned the photo.

“Don’t copy this brothers and sisters. Always be orderly in traffic and while driving,” they added.

But the big question commenters seem to be (fairly) asking, is how come the driver of the car parked on the crosswalk wasn’t also out there, pictured doing pushups with the motorbike taxi driver?

Shouldn’t the driver of the car be held to the same fitness challenge?
Shouldn’t the driver of the car be held to the same fitness challenge?

“The one driving the car also had to do it?”, one commenter asked.

“How come the driver of the car isn’t doing the same?” reads one comment.

“How about the car, what about their punishment? Make it fair,” another netizen wrote.

That must be so embarrassing for the motorbike taxi driver’s passenger, who is just awkwardly standing there, pointed out another netizen.

This isn’t the first time Bali police have demonstrated “creative” forms of punishment for traffic violators, instead of collecting “fines” or issuing tickets.

When high schools around the island finished their exams earlier this year in May, students ran wild in the streets. Their punishment? Pushups and squats, at least for the not-so-serious offenses.
