Most of the beggars secured by police in a recent Ubud round-up are minors

With the growing amount of vacationers in Ubud during school holidays, local law enforcement is attempting to wrangle in street beggars “bothering tourists.”

But most of these pengemis sadly appear to be minors.

Local law enforcement say they arrested a group of these beggars for mingling and mixing themselves amongst tourist crowds.

“During this policing, we only managed to secure 21 vagrant beggars,” Gianyar Municipal Police Unit Head I Made Krya Gunartha told Merdeka

“Of the 21 people, there were 14 who were still minors. In fact, they are mostly still at primary school level and use their time off to beg.”
