More than $30K raised for young woman in Bali road accident

Friends and family have rallied around a young woman who got into a motorbike accident in Bali, raising over $30,000 in just a few days.

On February 13, friends of a woman identified as Anastasia, frantically posted on social media that their friend’s life was in grave danger and $50,000 was needed to be raised to med-evacuate Anastasia to Singapore.

According to the YouCaring.com fundraising page set up for Anastasia, she had a blood clot removed from her brain and was only kept alive by breathing with the help of a ventilator. The page claims she was wearing a helmet, not drinking, and even had insurance but her plan did not cover overseas med-evac.

While some folks on the Bali Expats Facebook page were questioning if this was a “Russian scam,” Anastasia’ story has apparently appealed to a large amount of people, as an amazing $31,968 has been raised as of writing time.

The fundraising page was updated on February 14 saying that fundraising has been postponed since she came “out of the coma by herself without the aid of doctors.”
